For the past five years, RWA has served as Engineer of Record for Bonita Springs Utilities, Inc., and has successfully completed numerous utility design projects under this contract. These projects consisted of the design, permitting, and construction phases of multiple sanitary sewer force main and water main relocations. The construction administration services included project administration, bidding, construction services and spot inspections, testing and permit certification, as-built preparation, pay estimates, and project closeout.
RWA provided the design, permitting, bidding, and construction phase services for multiple sanitary sewer force main and water main relocations necessitated by improvements associated with the Old 41 Road Widening Project being constructed by the City of Bonita Springs. Sanitary force mains and water mains of various sizes were located within existing rights-of-way and easements along Old 41 Road from Rosemary Drive to U.S. 41. A major component of the utility relocation work was coordination with the roadway design engineer, as well as the proposed utility relocation plans of the private utilities within the existing right-of-way. A preliminary review of the 60 percent roadway design plans indicated a total of twenty significant water main and force main relocations. In addition, approximately 28 minor relocations were verified at specific locations during the design process through the use of subsurface utility locating. The project involved the relocation of more than 11,000 feet of force mains and water mains ranging in size from 8” through 24”. This project included coordination with the City of Bonita Springs Old 41 Road project design engineer, construction manager, and Seminole Gulf Coast Railroad.
