RWA has recently completed the design for the Lely Manor North-South Canal branch. The project is currently in the permitting process. The project consists of the design and permitting of a portion of a large canal that is a phase of a larger watershed improvement plan, known as the Lely Area Stormwater Improvement Plan (LASIP). LASIP is a large watershed improvement project that serves southwestern Collier County.
The North-South Canal project provides additional water quality treatment for the basin and improves drainage by providing for outfall improvements that reduce the hydraulic grade line in the upstream portions of the project. This reduction is achieved by constructing improvements to the canal cross section and constructing broad crested weirs where the canals discharge into the estuarine waters of Collier County. The broad crested weirs also provide for a barrier to saline intrusion.
