This project consisted of the development of two distinct facilities for use by Collier County, Florida, Fleet Management. The first facility was a demolition of an existing outdated repair facility and the second was a remodel of an existing building.
The County’s Main Fleet Facility is located on a 10 acre site on County Barn Road. The land uses include a new County fleet maintenance facility with administrative support offices and warehouse and a substation and repair facility for the Collier County Sheriff’s Department. Site improvements include on-site parking and driveways; dry pre-treatment and water management detention areas; associated underground infrastructure; and a new fueling station. The construction was phased to allow the existing facility to remain in service while improvements were completed for the new maintenance facility.
Additional services include permitting and design for a cellular phone tower, fueling station replacement, and offsite roadway and drainage improvements. RWA provided site planning, land use/zoning petitions, water management design, underground infrastructure design, roadway design, permitting, construction document preparation, and construction phase services. Close coordination with the architect during the site planning phase of the project was essential to meet the stormwater requirements of this challenging site. Likewise, accurate existing utility information obtained through soft-dig excavations was necessary to allow for the phased construction with minimal disturbances to the existing maintenance operations. This project commenced in January of 2007, and was substantially completed in May of 2009. Complete project close out is anticipated for August 2009 with a final construction cost of $19 million.
