Naples, FL – June 28, 2010 – The RWA, Inc. Planning Department, received two 2010 FPZA State Awards at the 58th Annual FPZA State Conference.
The Innovation Award was presented to the Hendry County Rural & Agricultural Lands Study developed by the RWA Project Team. This award is given for an innovative public or private project or development project that is unusual and/or ahead of its time. The Hendry County Rural & Agricultural Lands Study was recognized for its unique “Tiered Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) Program” created by RWA.
RWA, Inc. is also the prime consultant for the Immokalee Community Redevelopment Area’s (CRA) Public Realm Plan and Central Business District Form-Based Design Guidelines that received the Award of Merit Public Study. This award is given in recognition of an outstanding public report, study, written document, ordinance, planning analysis etc. The Public Realm Plan and Central Business District Form-Based Design Guidelines were a collaborative effort between RWA, Land Design Innovations, and the CRA to revitalize Immokalee’s downtown, incentivize redevelopment, and foster economic growth and diversity.
The FPZA Awards define the standard for land development and public/private planning statewide. For several decades, the awards program has become a centerpiece for FPZA’s identification and promotion of best practices in all types of planning and development throughout the state.
